Did you know that the US Surgeon General Report states that, “68% of all health related diseases in the U.S. are diet related.”

This is good and bad news. Good because it shows that most health related diseases are preventable through proper diet and eating habits. This is bad news because there are so many people suffering in silence or being negatively affected by the food they eat and may not even realize it.

There has to be a better way right? Well…kind of. We have to understand the real problem first and then we can appreciate the solution.

The Pros And Cons With Meat, Seafood, Whey, Soy, & Rice

Beef, Pork, Chicken, Fish, Seafood, & Eggs

Pros:

1.) Cooked meat and animal foods can smell good and can taste good when seasoned right

2.) Meat and animal foods give the body protein for building muscle. Protein gives your stomach the best sensation of feeling full

3.) Fish and Krill (oil) contain omega-3’s which can help with reducing inflammation and pain for the body

Cons:

1.) Non-Organic meat and animal foods can contain steroids to help animals grow bigger and faster. This can have known and unknown side effects to your body.

2.) Non-Organic meat can contain antibiotics. Antibiotics can increase your body’s resistance to prescription and over the counter antibiotic medicine over time.

3.) Non-Organic meat can be be full of toxicity. All fish and seafood contain varying levels of mercury that increases as the size of the animal goes up the food chain. All land animals are either constantly living in their own waste or eating it.

4.) All meat and animal foods contain the bad type of cholesterol and saturated fats. An imbalance of bad cholesterol can cause arteries to clog up with plaque. This can increase your risk of heart disease and strokes, which are the number one killers in the U.S.

5.) Meat and animal foods contains ZERO fiber. Fiber helps to reduce bad cholesterol, stabilize blood sugar, and remove toxins (including heavy metals) from the body.

Whey Protein

Pros:

1.) Comes in different flavors to enhance taste

2.) Like meat, whey gives the body protein for building muscle. Protein offers your body the best feeling of fullness

3.) Whey contains low fat since it’s a highly refined version of milk

Cons:

1.) Whey is overly processed and void of vitamins and minerals. Even when vitamins and minerals are added back in, they aren’t in whole plant food form so the body will have trouble recognizing and absorbing these types of nutrients.

2.) Non-Organic whey can contain artificial sweeteners. Artificial sweeteners such as aspartame and splenda are forms of toxins since the body has trouble recognizing them as sugars. Sugar alcohols have side effects such as bloating and constipation. High fructose corn syrup is highly refined and full of calories that pack on pounds.

3.) Whey contains extremely low or no fiber. Fiber helps to reduce bad cholesterol, stabilize blood sugar, and remove toxins (including heavy metals) from the body.

4.) All Whey comes from milk. All milk contains varying levels of caso-morphine (addictive bonding hormone that mother produces for calf), approved levels of sanitized puss (from mother cow utters being infected then milk being pasteurized), and zero lactase which is an enzyme used for digestion (the pasteurization process kills all harmful bacteria and enzymes by heating milk above 116 degrees).

5.) Non-Organic milk can contain steroids. Steroids can have known and unknown side effects to your body.

Soy & Rice Proteins

Pros:

1.) Soy and rice proteins come in different flavors to enhance taste

2.) Soy and rice gives the body protein for building muscle. Protein gives your body a great feeling of fullness.

3.) Soy and rice contains fiber. Fiber is great for pushing out bulk waste, reducing constipation, and also creates a sensation of fullness.

Cons:

1.) Soy is an endocrine disrupter. Your endocrine system consists of hormone regulating glands that stimulate your metabolism, reproduction, blood pressure, and appetite. You don’t want to mess with these.

2.) Rice protein can contain toxic levels of radiation. A lot of rice in protein supplements are sourced from China and increases your radiation exposure due to the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster and Japanese trade winds. Going rice-free and choosing dark greens, peas, and hemp instead are better options.

3.) Non-Organic soy and rice protein can contain herbicides, pesticides, and other toxic chemicals. Toxins are stored in your fat cells and can make you feel crappy.

The Organic Vegan Protein Powder Solution (Nothing But The BERRY Best)

Organic & Raw Pea & Hemp Protein Powder (3 Different Flavors)

Pros:

1.) All Organic. Free of herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, insecticides, and other harmful chemicals.

2.) Fully Raw. Cold milled and minimally processed powders are easier to digest since the enzymes are preserved.

3.) High in Protein. One 26 gram scoop contains 15 grams of protein (30% of your daily value)

4.) High in Fiber. One 26 gram serving has 4 grams of fiber (16% of your daily value). Adding 1 cup of blackberries adds 7 more grams of fiber bringing the total daily value to 44%!

5.) High in Iron. One 26 gram serving contains 8 mg of iron (43% of your daily value). Iron is great for regulating body temperature as well as other important bodily processes.

6.) ZERO Cholesterol & ZERO Sugar. Won’t clog up your arteries. Lightly sweetened with stevia and helps to stabilize blood sugar levels so they don’t spike up then crash down (in combination with the fiber).

Cons

1.) Hemp contains some omega-3’s and omega-6’s, but a flax seed supplement would serve you better.

2.) This supplement doesn’t taste as good by itself or in water. It goes best with a tropical smoothie. 🙂

Summary So Far…

Every type of protein source has it’s pros and cons. It’s important to weigh each of them as objectively as possible even though biases still may exist. Choosing an organic vegan protein powder that is also raw is very important for your overall health.

Adding berries (especially blackberries) offer your body some of the highest amounts of natural fiber available. Blackberries are the highest source of fiber per cup compared to strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.
